A graduating senior said her fondest memories of ΒιΆΉΙη came from getting involved.
Sydni N. Kinchen, a child development and family relations major from Fort Wayne, Indiana, said she chose Kentucky State because she wanted to follow in her brotherβs footsteps and attend an HBCU. That decision, and the decision to get involved, paid off for Kinchen.
βThe best memories that I made here would be from getting more involved on campus and meeting so many great people and making an impact on them,β Kinchen said.
Kinchen was involved on campus through ΒιΆΉΙη Girls Rock, Circle K International, as a resident assistant, a member of the Alpha Pi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., a peer leader in the campus Bible study group and as a charter member of the ΒιΆΉΙη Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa.
Kinchen said Travis Haskins has been the most impactful Kentucky State employee to her during her time on the hill.
βI remember him helping me my freshman year even though he wasnβt really my advisor and he always been there for me ever since.
Kinchen said after graduation she plans to move back to Fort Wayne and pursue a masterβs in social work.
Kinchenβs best advice to current students? Get involved.
βA major reason why K-State will hold place in my heart forever is because I got involved and made some fantastic friends and memories,β Kinchen said. βCherish every moment at this school because time does fly by fast.β
